We’re more than just an art gallery—we’re a platform to discover, learn, buy and curate art for a variety of spaces.

How It Started

Our Story

The idea for UnikArt was born from passionate conversations between artists and art enthusiasts during an exhibition in 2019. Motivated by these inspiring discussions and a deep curiosity for the arts, UnikArt was founded in 2021 by three hobby artists in the wake of the pandemic.

The post-pandemic period sparked a strong desire to express through art, leading to the creation of the first few artworks that marked the beginning of UnikArt’s journey.

With the support and mentorship of industry professionals, it grew into a platform dedicated to helping artists showcase their art. As interest grew, more artists joined, bringing their unique works to the platform. Today, UnikArt proudly stands as one of the top online art galleries in Mauritius.

UnikArt is trusted by art enthusiasts, collectors, and interior designers alike. The artworks of our talented artists have found their way into homes, offices, villas, and real estate developments, both locally and internationally, including South Africa, France, England, and India.

The Origins & Meaning

Behind The Name 'Unik'

The name “Unik” is not just a play on the word “Unique.” It’s like a universal word, sounding similar in different languages to express the idea of something special.

This includes languages such as Dutch, French, and English which come from countries that previously occupied Mauritius before its independence.

In Mauritian Creole, “inik” also means unique, showing our focus on presenting exceptional one-of-a-kind artworks.
