Folk Art is generally any form of art that originates from a particular culture or community.  It typically includes crafts, textiles, and visual arts with a strong connection to cultural heritage, traditions, values, and practices.

These various forms of folk art may often be utilitarian rather than decorative or expressive in nature.  Folk artists may be formally trained however it is very common for them to be self-taught or learn informally through observation of seniors, elders or ancestors.
