Juxtaposition in art is the act of depicting or grouping two unrelated objects or subjects to form one work of art.  This particular technique or style is often used to create thought provoking artworks or to catch the attention of the viewer.

It is worth noting that the items, subjects or themes are not necessarily opposites. They are grouped together to showcase comparison or highlight contrast between the two.  It may also in many cases lead to new interpretations or raise awareness about a particular matter.
