Description

This canvas by Damien Pavaday explores surrealism and conceptual African art.  It showcases the face of an African person behind a bright yellow sunburst background with small trees on his head and green city-like structures underneath him.

The inspiration behind the creation of this acrylic painting comes from Damien’s trips to South Africa.  He relates how Africa is more modern than you may think, especially South Africa.  Wide roads, state of the art infrastructure and all the amenities of famous cities around the world, Africa has it.  However despite all its urbanisation, Africans still hold their culture and nature at heart.  It also looks at how people from tribes have given in to urban living in Africa whilst not forgetting their origins and roots.

In The Words Of The Artist

After a trip to South Africa , while expecting villages and jungles I saw a modern urban city . The Africans live and work in urban areas .  The culture and jungle that makes Africa is now found in the mind of the African and increasingly less in its infrastructure.
