“Blue-Bay In Bloom” is an abstract take on a fascinating sight that occurs when corals reproduce.  It is a painting of Blue-Bay in Mauritius and the time when corals started reproducing around the end of 2018.  An event probably made possible by the consistent efforts in conserving the marine habitat around this area of Mauritius.

The process itself happens at night on a full moon, which in turn metamorphoses the lagoon.  The lagoon turns into shades of red and pink mixing with the turquoise colours and crashing waves while the deep blue sea stands right behind it towards the horizon.

This artwork uses wavy brush strokes to depict the deep blue sea getting lighter as it closes in towards the shore.  The reproduction of the corals and how it mixes with the lagoon are a combination of pouring and blowing techniques while the sand effect on the beach is a mixture of acrylic paint and gloss-medium sponged over multiple layers onto the canvas.
