Description

This portrait painting is on plywood and pays homage to Kaya (Joseph Réginald Topize) one of the all time great musician of Mauritius.  Kaya started and created the Seggae music which is a fusion of Sega and Reggae music.  His music & legacy continue to resound throughout Mauritius till date despite his sudden death in police custody in February 1999.  His music has become eternal and is an inspiration amongst many Mauritians.

This artwork was created using acrylic on plywood in pop art style.  The face of the artist is highlighted in shades of turquoise and “tiffany blue” with accents of red and black.  The background is painted in a darker shade of red and black.
